Fit & Wise: Putting the Wisdom back into Fitness
By Jamie McGarvey, MS,LCPC Life Coach
There is such a maze of information available about health and fitness that often times your head begins to spin while you sort through all the possibilities. You can become so desperate to find something that works that you focus all of your energy on some magic solution, some new pill that will give you the results that you want in your life.

The trouble is the further you move away from you - the further you get from a real solution.

Don't get me wrong - there is a lot of valuable information out there for people interested in losing weight or becoming more fit, but there is also a lot of bunk.

The key to any long-term solution for weight loss is you. Yes you.

You hold the answers and the magic in your heart and only you can release yourself to grow and develop in a healthy way. The key to lasting change is loving yourself, valuing yourself and actively caring for yourself.

So, stop looking for a magic cure and give yourself a chance to help you. When you were born into this world you loved yourself completely. What do you need to do to get back to that place of love and acceptance? What do you need to do to start listening to the wise part of you that wants the only the best for you? There is wisdom within you that perhaps has been ignored or sedated with food or self-loathing.

Shift your focus from your fitness goal to taking daily actions towards self-care. People who take care of themselves value themselves. People who value themselves can reach their goals. It doesn't have to be a struggle.

Get quiet and begin to listen to yourself and what is important to you? Who are you? What do you want out of life? What is important to you? What is your legacy? Follow your dreams, live your life for you, create healthy standards of self-care and the rest will follow.

Challenge ~ ~Carve out time every day for you to reflect and understand who you really are. Journal, draw, walk, meditate, write yourself a letter, stretch or whatever helps you slow down and tune into you.

~Create 10 Daily Actions for Self-care and start doing them.
